Sberbank becomes strategic partner of Moscow International Medical Cluster

Sberbank and the Fund of the Moscow International Medical Cluster signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The document was signed by Sberbank’s Senior Vice President, Head of Sberbank CIB1 Igor Bulantsev and CEO of the Fund of the Moscow International Medical Cluster Mikhail Yugai.

Under the agreement Sberbank will establish a key competency centre that will work with the Fund and organise the provision of high-tech banking services, analytical and information support. The bank will consider the possibilities of helping the Fund to find investors to carry out the medical cluster project and may act as one of the sponsors of the project. A separate issue of the agreement is potential participation of Sberbank’s employees and corporate clients in the Fund’s programme related to the provision of medical services.

“The Moscow International Medical Cluster will bring cutting-edge medical knowledge and technologies to Russia, and Sberbank is pleased to participate in this project of national significance,” said Igor Bulantsev. “The agreement will contribute to the establishment of a large medical infrastructure project in Russia aimed at the development of the national healthcare ecosystem.”

“We believe this project has huge potential as it features cooperation of overseas medical operators that will work in the cluster according to the highest standards of medical aid provision using the best equipment and Russian investors that have considerable experience in finance and knowledge of the market. We are pleased that Sberbank, the largest bank in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, supports the project of the Moscow International Medical Cluster and became our first strategic partner in developing the project,” said Mikhail Yugai.

The Moscow International Medical Cluster will enable medical, educational, and research activities of foreign and Russian organisations and close cooperation between these organisations for the exchange of knowledge. The cluster was established by the Government of Moscow and is being built on a rented 57-hectare plot on the grounds of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre. The cluster has infrastructural advantages due to this: the infrastructure necessary for business and life has already been established and is developing, while the neighbourhood with scientific, research, and educational centres of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre opens up possibilities for synergy between participants of the medical cluster and projects in education, research, and development.
