Sberbank launches new line of products to hedge against the Central Banks interest rate risk


Sberbank is taking active efforts to develop its global markets platform: the bank concluded its first transaction to hedge against the Central Bank’s benchmark interest rate risk with a volume of 10 billion roubles, thus providing the client with the opportunity to lower interest risk related to the servicing of a rouble-denominated loan tied to the Central Bank’s benchmark rate.

“We are witnessing substantial growth of the market of rouble-denominated lending products tied to the benchmark rate, its volume already exceeds one trillion roubles in the banking system. Corporate clients’ demand for hedging against the interest rate risk from has created excellent prospects for the development of the rouble-denominated interest rate derivatives market.
