Sberbank Investment Research takes first place in Russia category in Institutional Investors Emerging EMEA 2016 Survey

Sberbank Investment Research, the research division of Sberbank CIB1 and one of the most experienced analytical teams in Russia and the CIS, has once again been recognised in this year’s Institutional Investor Emerging EMEA Research rankings.

Sberbank Investment Research was voted the leading Russia team at this year’s Institutional Investor 2016 Emerging EMEA Research Team rankings. It was positioned ninth overall in the 2016 Emerging EMEA Research Team rankings. Additionally, top-three positions were achieved by Evgeny Gavrilenkov and his team in the Economics category, Alexander Fak and colleagues in the Oil & Gas category, and Alexey Bulgakov and his team in the Corporate Debt category.

The 2016 Emerging EMEA Research team reflects the opinions of more than 630 individuals at 375 institutions that collectively manage emerging EMEA equities and debt worth an estimated $320 billion and $157 billion respectively.

This accolade builds on previous years’ successes where Sberbank Investment Research was named the All-Russia Research Team in Institutional Investor’s 2015 ranking and secured 12 positions and 6 leadership positions in the rankings. Sberbank Investment Research was number one last year for Emerging-Europe Equity Strategy.

Evgeny Gavrilenkov and Alexander Kudrin have been included in every year of the ranking’s 12-year history and Evgeny Gavrilenkov has secured the top spot eight years running, which is the longest period for any analyst taking part. The All-Russia ranking was omitted from the research rankings for 2016.

Alexander Kudrin, Head of Sberbank Investment Research, Managing Director said: “We are delighted to achieve top position for Russia in the survey, which combines the views of investors who operate in the EMEA region. They acknowledge the expertise and commitment of our research team by the investment community. As the leading research houses in Russia, Sberbank Investment Research will continue to play a key role in identifying interesting opportunities across Russian and CIS financial markets for our clients.”
